Hives

Last April Avery had an allergic reaction to Amoxicillin.  Days later Tess, who was also taking Amoxicillin, got what appeared to be the Chicken Pox.  The very next morning however, all of her spots had disappeared.  I took her back to the doctor, and while it looked nothing like the traditional reaction to the antibiotic, they noted that she might have an allergy.
Fast forward to two weeks ago... Tess had double ear infections again and was prescribed Cefdinir.  A week into the treatment, she screamed at bedtime, saying her legs were bothering her.  After a few attempts to settle her down, Brad took off her pajama pants and saw she was covered in itchy, red, hives.  Poor girl.  We covered her hydrocortisone cream and ran to the store to buy some benydryl which finally gave her enough relief to put her back to sleep.
The doctor confirmed she was indeed reacting to the prescription again.  Both are penicillins and my mom is also deathly allergic to penicillins.  The real bummer, besides having to be super cautious in prescribing her any antibiotics in the future, is that the hives and come and gone multiple times a day for the last week!  And she has hated it!  I think they're finally gone now and lets hope they don't come back.
These first two of her legs are from the first night.  The rest are from different times throughout the week.
