Jack's Birthday

SEVEN!
Oh, my sweet Jack.  This darling boy is still so quick to express his feelings.  He is generous with his hugs and never misses a chance to smother Tessa in love.  He often jumps into my bed in the morning for a quick snuggle before he begins his day.  And he's the first to claim a spot right next to Dad for a movie night.  He also loves his reading time with Wesley before bed and still likes to be carried to bed to be tucked in.
Although he's much improved in the last year, he's also still quick to express his displeasure.  We argue almost every afternoon about homework (some days he's just "too tired" or he "can't read" or I "just want it to be the worst day ever", I hear that one a lot).  And he melts down almost every time I ask him to clean, but those are pretty much the only things we fight about these days.
Jack's teachers have loved him.  He has a pretty crazy group of kids in his first grade class, but his teacher frequently lets me know how cooperative and respectful Jack is.  He's never part of the noise or trouble in the classroom.  He might be a little too timid in class, we've noticed he gets worried about reading in class, afraid he'll make a mistake.  I would say he's a very self confident kid except for academics.  He's friends with everyone and loves to play at recess.  This year one of his class  recesses is combined with the third graders, so he often plays football with Wesley and his friends.
Speaking of football, we just started another fast flag football season.  He had a game the night of his birthday, so I had a good excuse to take a couple pictures.  He just makes me melt.
And this was not his year for a party, but Grandma never fails!
Happy Birthday Jack!!!
